Dreams Awakened

Dreams Awakened is a self-curated exhibit of 9 original paintings; made over the course of 2024 and 2025. Fueled with the energy of painting the unknown from within; and focusing instead on perpetual creative energy.

As an intuitive artist, I attempt to greet each canvas with a clear mind, leaving all creative ideas, goals, and imagery behind. I just paint. Throwing different colors, paints, and materials on the surface, with different vigor and application methods, for whatever feels right in that moment. And like a child seeking to make sense of the clouds in the sky above, I will see shapes emerge, and thus forth, the beginning of an initial composition takes form.

Somewhere along the way, when I’ve found my ultimate direction, I may start to assign an emotional or intellectual meaning to the concept that has sprung forth on my canvas – one that I didn’t know previously existed. A way to process and make sense of my own art. I lock hold of this, and it guides me through the rest of my craft.

However, the paintings selected for Dreams Awakened are unique to my typical practice. I let myself go so freely to create in all these pieces, that I assigned no emotional or intellectual value to their concept until they were fully finished, and I was forced to reflect as a viewer. They awoke things in me that I did not know existed, and I did not care to make sense of while creating. They just needed to be made. Sleep must be slept. Dreams will be dreamt. And we will awake.
