Rising Tides brings together the work of two local artists from Water Street Studios in Batavia. Sharon Feller and Caitlin Palagi are known for valuing process over outcome – allowing a creative unfolding to guide the final composition. Both prone to perfectionism, they spent years trying to control the tide rather than rising and falling with it.
Happenstance brought Caitlin and Sharon together to exhibit, despite working at the same gallery. The artists quickly discovered their thought processes, creative values and [their] works drive a similar method.
Rising Tides invites you to pull away from the past, disconnect from the future, and surrender to the present. It is a recognition that life is often out of our control. We can fight the tide, or we can learn to move with it.
